How we work
Industrial Preconstruction Manager
|
Industrial Preconstruction Managers must be able to understand the needs of the client and convey necessary information to all stakeholders with emphasis on accuracy and efficiency. An understanding and implementation of project management principles allows the PM to organize and direct project work while maintaining technical integrity. The PM acts as the face of the company and must be able to identify and work with multiple stakeholders. An ability to mitigate risks, mediate conflicts, and maintain standards makes the PM a vital part of every project. |
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

PROPOSALS: Coordinate and prepare proposals and qualification packages for industrial automation and controls projects

COST ESTIMATING: Develop cost estimates for control systems, automation, and electrical engineering scopes

TECHNICAL INSIGHT: Participate in client meetings, site visits, and technical discussions to inform accurate proposals
-
COLLABORATION: Collaborate closely with Business Development and Engineering teams throughout the pursuit process
-
STANDARDIZATION: Help standardize proposal tools, templates, and processes across our offices
-
PIPELINE TRACKING: Track proposal deadlines, outcomes, and pipeline activity
-
EVENTS: Represent Huffman Engineering at industry events and client meetings
-
MARKETING COLLABORATION: Partner with Marketing to support case studies and market-facing content


Requirements/Benefits
QUALIFICATIONS
-
10+ years of experience in estimating, quoting, or preconstruction for industrial automation, life sciences, food & beverage, or regulated manufacturing projects
-
Strong understanding of control systems, automation, and electrical engineering in compliance-driven environments
-
Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and RFPs
-
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field preferred (or equivalent experience)

Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple pursuits at once
-
Willingness to travel regionally as needed
-
Ability to use project management tools. Microsoft Project experience necessary
-
Ability to maintain an atmosphere of teamwork, communication and accountability
