How we work
Engineer
Engineers (Electrical, Mechanical, Ag, Controls, or Chemical) with either technical or project management experience, or both, will step into a project engineer role or a project manager role and successfully work on a team to complete projects. This individual will see projects progress from design and engineering recommendations to implementation and start up. |
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

- Engineering Analysis and Design - analyzes data (customer design, proposal, specifications, manuals, etc.) and determines feasibility of design or application. Designs electrical equipment, facilities, products and systems following customer specifications. Interprets and designs systems based on personal knowledge and customer verbal explanations.
- Software Configuration and Controls Design - applies configuration and design principles to PLC’s or HMI’s or Networks (or all three) that move both the customer project and the customer relationship ahead. Proficient across manufacturers, applications and/or industries. Coordinates fabrication and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications, and develops applications of controls, instruments, and systems for new industrial uses. Multiple certifications are required across industries or applications.
- Advanced Documentation - translates customer specifications into engineered plans and documents. Researches and analyzes data such as customer design proposal, specifications, and manuals and produces applicable proposals and/or studies. Produces usable analytical documentation with little or no oversight including IQ/OQ documentation, specifications/ loop diagrams, engineered studies, and/or manuals.
- Testing, Troubleshooting, Verification - performs troubleshooting tasks, sometimes using meters or other diagnostic tools, and makes recommendations based on findings. Understands documents involved with testing and troubleshooting. Plans, directs and tests control apparatus and equipment. Collects data, analyzes the situation and applies generally accepted engineering principles toward a solution.
- Team Accountability/ Project Management - consistently acts as project leads either technical or PM, but technical skills are developed to the point that they are viewed in the role of technical expert to the customer. Team work includes technical contribution, and bringing clarity by regularly communicating progress to team and customers via HEI approved channels.
- Sales and Business Advancement - works with others to select part numbers and evaluate pricing for projects, and then produces proposals for final evaluation and review. Works with sales teams to produce complex proposals and studies in order to advance business with specified customers. Presents a professional, confident presence at customer sites. Coordinates and facilitates proposal opportunities and multiple projects simultaneously.


Requirements/Benefits
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree (Electrical, Mechanical, Agricultural, Chemical, Controls/Computer Engineering) plus 5 years' experience in controls or related field. Should hold certifications in project management and/or technical skills. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and on a team. Additional applicable experience: database application development, SQL Server and Oracle, PHP/ASP programming, Visual Basic Programming.
